The debut EP from The Gerrymanderers. A collaborative effort produced primarily through internet messages and files sent back and forth, "The North Coast EP" is a collection of songs originally written by Emily Bianchi, with an electronic production style by Kurt Hauswirth.

ABOUT US:

The Gerrymanderers is folktronica duo made up of Emily Bianchi Mayer and Kurt Hauswirth, two musicians and music teachers from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Kurt Hauswirth is one half of The Gerrymanderers. He was born, raised and now resides in Michigan. In 2004, he attended Northern Michigan University, and soon after majored in Music Education. Soon during his studies he met Emily Bianchi Mayer, the complementing half of The Gerrymanderers. While they did not form their band at that time, Kurt started recording music under the moniker Turkhaus in 2012. He released a string of solo EPs, such as Manifest, Future Grime, Guilt, Waiting Games, and recently, Phonophobia in October 2014. His EPs showcase the evolution from trial-and-error recording to an electronic music style of his own. The release of his latest work helped spur conversation between Kurt and Emily about common music interests, which began their collaboration as The Gerrymanderers.

Emily Bianchi Mayer is the other half of The Gerrymanderers. Like Kurt, she was born, raised and currently resides in Michigan. Emily attended Northern Michigan University in 2006 and majored in Music Education. (She’s not copying Kurt’s bio. She swears.) She graduated from NMU in 2010 and immediately upon graduation she began teaching Kindergarten-12th Grade general, vocal, and instrumental music in a small rural school district. During her four years of teaching in the public school system, Emily was also pursuing a solo career and consistently writing songs.
